Gavin Ryan is an experienced Emerging Markets fund manager. The average return of the private equity investments he has managed is 40%, putting him in the top quartile of private equity fund managers. In the last 15 years has managed an Advent International $30m venture fund, a $200m expansion fund sponsored by George Soros and OPIC, as well as a €2.5bn renewable energy asset manager. Gavin also works as a specialist consultant and trainer to private equity investors and fund managers; and in the past has advised Brunei Investment Authority, Abu Dhabi Investment Council, African Development Bank and Commonwealth Development Corporation. He is the in house trainer for private equity for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. He is regarded as a leading expert on Emerging Markets private equity. He has an Engineering Degree from Cambridge University and an MBA from McGill University. He has previously worked for HSBC Investment Bank, the British Diplomatic Service and Nomura International; and has lived in Japan where he gained a good understanding of Asia.
