Michael Wieser studied law in Vienna and Singapore. He founded two start-ups (IT provider / energy storage) and also gained experience in private equity. Michael has been investing as a business angel for 10 years and is now a partner at Helvetia’s VC fund. Apart from technology, he enjoys bread-baking.
Helvetia Venture Fund
Helvetia Venture Fund invests in start-ups from the insurtech segment and in companies whose business models link to or support Helvetia’s insurance business. It focuses on start-ups from all over Europe, with a particular emphasis on countries in which Helvetia is active, specifically Switzerland as well as Germany, France, Italy, Austria and Spain. The total fund volume will amount to CHF 55 million. On average, Helvetia Venture Fund will invest between CHF 500,000 and CHF 2 million in each financing round. Investments of up to CHF 5.5 million can be made in each portfolio company. Unlike with most other corporate venture funds, the Helvetia Venture Fund investment team has the authority of partners at a private venture capital fund and participates directly in the financial success or failure of their portfolio.
